This is the last in the series “A Christians guide to voting.” If you haven’t been able to watch the other videos, I would encourage you to go back and if you do nothing else go back to video number one. Then you can watch that and there we laid out this idea
that as we consider the election, we consider voting and so many other areas in life,
we need to vote the issues that are important to God instead of those issues that are necessarily important to us. Hopefully, they align and sometimes there’s confusion and we don’t know what to do. So instead of saying I’m going to respond emotionally
or culturally or politically, let’s do what God wants us to do and respond that way.
Let’s hold high the issues that are important to God.

I’ve tried to walk through this in bite-sized pieces over the last several days. Hopefully, it’s at least spurred some thoughts in your mind. But as Christians, we are faced often with some very difficult choices and some very difficult decisions and don’t exactly know what to do.

For this last video, I want to read a passage of scripture-In Philippians chapter 4 the Apostle Paul is writing and he’s talking to Christians. He’s talking to a church and they’re in a politically crazy time and there’s a lot of crazy stuff going on and their individual liberties are being certainly infringed upon a lot of bad stuff happening. Here’s what he says:

“Dearly beloved and longed for my joy and crown so stand fast in the Lord my dearly beloved”

He calls this group of people his dearly beloved two different times. He says here’s what you need to do-Stand Fast in the Lord. What an encouragement. What do we do when things are as out of control as they are right now? Well, first of all, we need to stand fast in the Lord. Plant your feet and say in the Lord I’m going to stand fast. I’m going to do what God wants me to do. He goes on and in verse number 4 he says this:

“Rejoice in the Lord always and again, I say rejoice.”

Wow stand fast be firm and rejoice. He says:

Be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

He says stand fast, rejoice, pray. Here’s the result in verse 7:

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

The Apostle Paul says, he says here’s what you need to do-plant your feet and don’t move. Rejoice in the Lord trust God regardless of what may be happening in your life. Trust Him. Pray and ask for His will to be done. And know that as your focus is on Him instead of the world around you, you will have peace.

Here’s what you need to do. What do we do? Read the word. That’s how you think Biblically. Pray and ask God for His will to be done and for his peace to be found. Lead others, as you have the opportunity disciple bring up those that you can influence in an understanding of what the Bible says. Be responsible. Do what you can and trust God.

These are confusing times, but there have always been confusing times. And for Christians probably all times have been confusing times. But be very careful, instead of looking at the world through your emotional eyes or through cultural eyes or through political eyes, think and act and see Biblically. Don’t vote issues that are important to you,
but rather vote the issues that are important to God.
